Walter L. Morris Papers (Jan. 2013-April 2013) — Processed and described Knoxville movie theater proprietor Walter Lee Morris’s papers related to promoting and operating movie theaters in East Tennessee and across the country, as well as papers related to him producing translated foreign films.
Dr. Alvin Nielsen Papers (Nov. 2012) — Processed University of Tennessee physics professor and Dean of Liberal Arts Alvin Nielsen’s administrative, research and commemorative papers. Merged multiple collections into one.
Manuscripts & Accession Records Inventory (Jan. 2012-June 2012) — Organized acquisition and de-accession information in Archivists’ Toolkit for easier staff consultation by transcribing physical accession records into AT manuscript entries. Linked accession records to corresponding manuscript or archive entries in AT.
Oversize Rare Book Catalog Correction (April 2014-May 2014) — Corrected oversize rare book entries in the library catalog to the correct format designation and pulled books that needed new barcodes. This project should remedy issues in retrieving rare books based on what is listed in the catalog.
Maps Collection and Inventory (Nov. 2013-March 2014) – Reassigned new custom call numbers to rare maps collection, and created a new spreadsheet inventory for special collections staff and (possible) public use. Edited spreadsheet for Library of Congress and custom subject headings.
Robert S. Hartman Research Collection (October 2014-December 2014) — Reprocessed a previously acquired collection of philosophy professor Hartman’s research papers, including consolidating records boxes, replacing boxes and folders, and updating its finding aid.
Dogwood Arts Festival Scrapbooks (August 2014-October 2014) — Processed and described scrapbooks, photographs, and news clippings that document events occurring during Knoxville, Tenn.’s spring cultural arts festival.
William M. Bass Papers (May 2013-November 2014 (ongoing)) — Cooperatively arranged and described the forensic anthropologist‘s research, teaching and personal papers. Digitally migrated audio and visual material and digital files. Specifically arranged and assigned the metadata for the field notes featured in the Bass Field Notes digital collection. Curated an exhibit of Bass’s field notes and other research materials to be displayed during and after “An Evening with Dr. Bill Bass” event.
Kenneth Curry Collection of Robert Southey Letters (Dec. 2012-Jan. 2013) — Processed and described a five-box collection of University of Tennessee English professor Kenneth Curry’s research for his book New Letters of Robert Southey. Includes published manuscripts and unpublished Southey letters.
Philip and Alma Oliver WWII Papers (Nov. 2012-Dec. 2012) — Processed and described materials from Marine Master Technical Sergeant Philip M. Oliver’s service with Marine Air Group 25 and the South Pacific Air Transport Command in the Pacific theater during WWII, and materials from MAG-25 and SCAT reunions. Part of the Center for the Study of War and Society.
Technical Society of Knoxville Records (July 2012-Nov. 2012) — Processed and described a 17-box collection of a local engineering and scientific society’s records by merging existing collections with newly acquired records. Digitally migrated audio and visual media for preservation and easier access.
Shaheen Shakespeare Research Collection (July 2012) — Processed University of Memphis professor Naseeb Shaheen’s research materials connected to his study of religious allusions in Shakespeare’s plays. Collection acquired when UT Libraries received his donation of antiquarian Bibles and other religious texts.
Erastus Edward Strobino Journal (June 2012-July 2012) — Processed a WWII-era medical Army major’s journal and photograph.
Ephemera and Prints Inventory (June 2011-March 2012) — Maintained inventory spreadsheets for staff and (possibly) public use. Edited spreadsheets for consistent Library of Congress or custom-made subject headings.
Environmental Mutagen Society Records (August 2010-June 2011) – Completed processing and describing a 22-box collection of a scientific society’s archival materials and records.
